CREATION OF A LAWN

It is necessary to form a lawn carefully and thoughtfully so that in the future to avoid remaking of a lawn. Experienced LLC “Gardens” specialists will help you create a quality lawn. In case you want to create a lawn on your own, LLC “Gardens” below provides the main recommendations that must be followed for the successful formation of a magnificent lawn.

  • The soil should be fertile, the layer should be at least 10 cm, allows air and water to pass through.
  • It is better to prepare the soil in the fall, so that it thickens enough during the winter.
  • In no case you should form a new lawn in place of the old one!
  • In late autumn, the old lawn should be milled or completely removed, and then a layer of fertile black soil should be poured, leveled and rolled with a roller.
  • The area where you want to equip the lawn should be flat. This is a laborious manual work. The surface must be leveled with special rakes designed for such purposes.
  • Currently, garden design often uses paths made of pavers or other materials, and therefore, in no case should one pour black soil above the track cover. Ideally, the soil should be at least 2 cm below this level, because with the growth of the lawn, the roots will raise the soil, and when mowing the lawn should remain at the same level with the track.
  • If the soil is infertile, then two weeks before sowing the lawn, it must be fertilized.
  • Sowing a lawn is also desirable to plan. The lawn can be sown from spring until autumn, given the weather conditions. The grass mixture, that is sown too late may not have time to take root and will freeze in the winter. Which mixture of grains to choose for sowing depends on your needs and the planned use of the lawn. Keep in mind that varieties of lawn seeds also vary in growth rate. Lawn seeds are sown with a hand or a special seeder. Best results are achieved if half of the seeds are sown in one direction and the other half in the other, perpendicular to the previous direction of sowing. Do not sow grain in windy weather, or during heavy rain.

When the grains are evenly sown over the entire area, it is necessary to press them with a rake into the soil with light movements to a depth of about 1 cm. Then the treated sowing area is necessarily rolled with a roller!

  • After sowing, the lawn must be watered. It’s necessary to ensure that the lawn is not exposed to excessive watering. If the sprouted seeds suffer from drought, the lawn will burn and the sowing process will have to be repeated.
  • A newly formed and well-groomed lawn can begin to mow as early as 3 weeks after germination, although weak grass stems may not seem to be mowed. This should be done, because each mowing of the grass contributes to the formation of density and brightness of the lawn.

You can entrust the creation of a lawn and a rolled lawn to experienced and knowledgeable specialists of LLC “Gardens”.
